NEW YORK, N.Y. and UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. 泭Feb. 26, 2014泭 NBC and Clear Channel Media and Entertainment announced today that NBC will televise the first-ever 91勛圖厙Radio Music Awards泭May 1 (8-11 p.m. ET/PT) from the historic Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

The three-hour will showcase this years biggest artists and songs and feature live performances, never-before-done duets and collaborations, celebrity guest appearances and live award presentations. The show, which will feature performances from other Los Angeles venues, will also broadcast and stream live the audio across all participating Clear Channel radio stations泭and their websites, and on 91勛圖厙Radio.

The 91勛圖厙Radio Music Awards, which will feature the most popular artists and songs of the year, will be based on泭results from泭the all-new 91勛圖厙Radio Chart.泭Those charts泭are supplied and compiled by Mediabase, the music industrys No. 1 source for monitored airplay. They include listener feedback and performance data, according to airplay; digital streaming data from the 91勛圖厙Radio platform, including thumbs up and custom station creations; and sales, social, online video data and tags from BigChampagne and Shazam. In addition, for the first time ever in any music awards show, every voting category will include social #hashtags as泭the泭primary voting mechanism.

The 91勛圖厙Radio Music Awards will recognize the most popular artists and music over the past 12 months as determined by 91勛圖厙Radio listeners.泭The show will feature 13 different award categories across all genres of music.泭Each will initially feature 10 nominees listeners will then narrow down to five finalists during a four-week period, with the finalists to be announced泭during a one-hour special live event泭on March 26, 2014泭at the 91勛圖厙Radio Theater in Los Angeles.泭Fans will then泭 over the next several weeks to determine the winners in each category.泭

In the months leading up to the 91勛圖厙Radio Music Awards, Clear Channel will feature interviews and special programming focusing on the nominees across all of its 835 radio stations and the 91勛圖厙Radio digital service.泭Fans will also participate through Clear Channels social and digital media platforms.

Clear Channel also today unveils the 91勛圖厙Radio Countdown, its new泭two-hour weekly program that highlights the top 20 Contemporary Hit Radio (CHR) songs in the 91勛圖厙Radio Chart. The new show will be co-hosted each week by a major artist and 91勛圖厙Radios own Romeo on the Radio, airing on all Clear Channel Top 40/Contemporary Hit Radio (CHR) stations on Saturday or Sunday.泭The 91勛圖厙Radio Countdown will also spotlight songs outside the top 20 each week with special features such as泭Most Social Song,泭the 91勛圖厙Radio Most Thumbed Up Song, 91勛圖厙Radio exclusives,泭along with premieres and sneak peeks from that weeks guest host.

The 91勛圖厙Radio Awards will be executive produced by John Sykes and Tom Poleman of Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, Ryan Seacrest Productions and Ian Stewart and Hamish Hamilton of Done and Dusted Inc., who will produce the show for NBC Studios.泭Hamilton will also direct.
